Mila Shvark, a 9-year-old from Kfar Saba, suffers from Rett Syndrome and epilepsy. Rett Syndrome affects neurological development, causing severe motor and communication challenges.
Imagine a beautiful, smiling child who understands everything but cannot speak, stand independently, or use her hands.
Unfortunately, the health insurance fund has not approved coverage for treatments beyond the minimal therapy provided through the education system. According to medical recommendations, intensive treatments such as physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, therapeutic horseback riding, occupational therapy, and more are essential to significantly improve Mila’s quality of life.
Mila is unable to stand on her own. The more physiotherapy she receives, the better her chances of regaining the ability to stand independently. In the meantime, her parents have had to employ a caregiver (a foreign worker) in their home to assist with Mila’s care and lifting her.
Mila’s young parents, Michelle and Damien, work tirelessly to ease Mila’s challenges and provide her with the intensive treatments she needs. Unfortunately, they cannot afford the high cost of these vital therapies.
Mila’s future is in our hands. Let’s help her learn to speak, walk, play, and hug—just like any other child her age.
At Kav LaChaim, we are committed to raising funds and supporting Mila and her family.
