Hanukkah 2024

As every year, at the beginning of winter and in preparation for Hanukkah, the Kav LaChaim organization is gearing up for extensive activities across the country for the benefit of children with severe illnesses and disabilities who are part of Kav LaChaim.

This year, in light of the difficult events of the war affecting our country, we have decided to uplift the spirits and bring smiles to the faces of these children—who face challenges such as muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cancer, and other severe illnesses. Some of these children have even been evacuated from their homes in the north and south. Our goal is to give them a chance to relax, celebrate, and experience joy and fun.

Most of the children in Kav LaChaim rely on wheelchairs or walkers due to their medical conditions. To support them, volunteers will participate in the events, assisting the children with mobility, meals, and emotional support, while being at their service throughout all activities.

From December 2024 to January 2025, the following activities are planned:

• Three Hanukkah Camps
  For 100 children, at a total cost of 375,000 NIS.
  (Including accommodations, trips, transportation from across the country, meals, entry to attractions, workshops, and performances.)
• Four Fun Days and Evenings
  Including Hanukkah candle-lighting ceremonies, for 160 children, at a total cost of 320,000 NIS.
• Eight Weekend Retreats
  For 300 children, at a total cost of 480,000 NIS.

The estimated total cost for these activities is approximately 1,175,000 NIS.

These activities provide the families of children with disabilities, especially their parents, a much-needed “breath of fresh air” from the intensive care required for their child with special needs. This allows the parents to rest a little and focus on their healthy children, who are also enduring a challenging period, having been displaced from their homes and “uprooted” from their natural surroundings.
