Kav Lachayim is a social movement founded in 1989 with the goal of supporting children facing complex disabilities and rare syndromes.
The backbone of the movement relies on hundreds of youth and citizens who volunteer with the organization, contributing to the daily support system for those who are ill and disabled in Israel.
Over the years, tens of thousands of citizens, youth, professionals, and public figures have joined the movement, united in their commitment and shared vision for the organization’s success.
Children and Graduates of the Organization
The children of Kav Lachayim, aged 6-21, face complex and severe disabilities such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, brain injuries, and rare syndromes.
Graduates of the organization, aged 21 and older, experience challenges with mobility. The organization warmly welcomes children from all communities across Israel, from Metula in the north to Eilat in the south, with a focus on supporting those in peripheral areas.
About the Volunteers
Volunteer Guides – Friends for Life.
The organization is blessed with thousands of young volunteers aged 17-25 from all over the country who dedicate themselves year-round to guiding, physically and emotionally supporting, and being companions to the children.
The continuous dialogue between healthy young volunteers and their ill or disabled peers is incredibly important, improving the children’s quality of life and fostering a socially and morally resilient environment that strengthens all involved.
Volunteers accompany the children in all the organization’s activities and maintain ongoing contact with them throughout the year in their homes, schools, and during hospitalizations.
The organization also has professional volunteers, including doctors, paramedics, cooks, artists, clowns, drivers, and more.

Our Vision and Goals
Enhancing Quality of Life
We work to improve the quality of life for children and adults facing complex disabilities and rare syndromes. Our social enterprise brings together youth and volunteers for shared activities, building meaningful connections and support.
Saving Lives
We assist in saving the lives of critically ill patients through guidance, resource mobilization, advocacy, and more. We also manage a virtual pharmacy that provides essential medications for patients with severe illnesses whose treatments are not covered by the national health basket.
Creating Change in Israeli Society
The organization carries out all its activities within and alongside communities across Israel, engaging all sectors of Israeli society. Our aim is to foster cross-community cooperation, make information accessible, and effect real, tangible change.
